I hate the Mortal Kombat films.
And I've hated the movie theme ever since I put my MK Sega CD into my stereo.
However, you using the synth made it sound a bit more like the game.
I'd say, for a second draft, make it more game-ish.
Find that dinging noise, and put it where appropriate.
And subtle bass boosts all around.
Listen to Dan Forden's work on MK I - UMK III, and a few of the music from Deception (BRILLIANCE!) to get an idea of what I'm talking about.
