I can tell you haven't played a lot of Mortal Kombat. If a portal did open up between the two games, the Tarkatan, Shokan and Centor hoards alone would have eradicated every last fighter to the point where there probably would be no battle with Ken and Chun Lee. And if they did escape, Shao Kahn (who would have not been killed that easily, alone with Tsung) would have torn them apart with his bare hands (he's brutal like that). That's what I hated about both the SF and MK movies; they didn't grasp how powerfull the characters were. I love SF, but Outworld would have destroyed them. Great first animation, though.

The game starts, but when it does, the alien just keeps falling and dying. I tried pressing each of the controls, but no luck; it took all of my lives in a mere 10 seconds.
